Why a combined strategy is key to Cloud success

We all know that businesses need to digitise. In order for businesses to get this right, they need Cloud. Most companies know this, but struggle with getting started on their Cloud journey. Bigger companies will hire a consultant who will work out a complicated strategy and present their findings to the business in a large, difficult to digest, report. Sure, this approach may get results but the business still doesn’t know anything about the Cloud.

When we were building OneView we tried to find people to help us lift and shift everything into the Cloud. But we couldn’t find the right partners and, often, those who said they had the capabilities, didn’t. So we built our internal capabilities. We wanted to use what we had learnt while building OneView to help our clients. So we came up with a way to simplify the process and bring together all the components we used to deliver the same results to other people.

Plumbing priorities for Cloud success

At Nebula, we want to make it simpler for businesses to take the first step on their Cloud journey using OneView and our Digitalisation-as-a-Service offerings. Think of it as being a bit like the plumbing in a building – there are many different bits and pieces that need to be in place in order to guarantee that water will start flowing the second you turn on the tap.

If you’ve ever built a house, you’ll know that it would be foolish to hire one plumber to set up your kitchen sink, another to handle the plumbing for your washing machine and yet another plumbing pro to take care of your guest bathroom. In line with this, if your pipes aren’t connected properly and your plumbing foundations aren’t in place, you’re likely to have some trouble when it’s time to take a shower.

For us, some of these crucial “bits and pieces” include Telecoms, Cloud, Security, Software Development expertise. We see each of these different components as important parts of a greater whole.

You can put the nicest bathroom in your house, but if there’s no water connected to the bathroom, it’s going to be pretty useless. Likewise it you develop the best app but lack real-time, critical data and don’t have the necessary expertise to keep the app up and running, your fancy app won’t be of any use.
