Embracing the Unknown: The Power of Not Knowing.

Written by Daniel Nel | Oct 19, 2023 10:17:56 AM

We cannot always know the answers, even as the leader. Sometimes there is a beauty in not knowing what the future holds, or what is coming next. In this article, lets explore how you can embrace the discomfort of not knowing, using these situations to elevate yourself.

Have A Beginners Mindset

A beginner’s mindset or a Shoshin mindset is one of the most powerful mindsets to have. Why? Because you question everything.

When you start learning a new skill you ask lots of questions and do extensive research. This helps you to gain different insights and perspectives, giving you a better understanding of the new skill. Each aspect is new and so you take in, ask, and learn about all the aspects from anyone who is knowledgeable.

Embrace that beginner’s mindset, ask a lot of questions, and learn from everyone you interact with.

Try Things

As humans, we are creatures of comfort. We maintain the same routine, eat at the same restaurant, and stay in the comfort zone. While this may be comfortable, it will not aid you in growing yourself.

Take the leap and try new things on a consistent basis. It will help you to maintain a beginner’s mindset and is good for brain health too.

Embrace the feeling of not knowing and be open to learning.

Believe in Yourself & Your Cause

The most important thing to do in situations where the outcome is unknown, or you feel discomfort is to believe in yourself and your cause.

Your purpose should drive you, even when you are in uncomfortable situations. If you are struggling in uncomfortable situations, you probably need to look at your cause or purpose, ensuring that it is truly important to you.

We all go through times where we don’t know the answer or the way forward, but by approaching it with a beginners mindset, you can use these situations to make you stronger.
