The Power of Inspiring Stories: Engaging Your Workforce

Many times, as leaders and business owners we get lost in the daily grind. We run from meeting to meeting, with our sole focus being on growth. We are working towards our goals and pushing our teams to do the same.

But how often do we stop and look at how inspired/ engaged our team is?

An inspired and engaged team will go to further lengths and be more productive than an uninspired team. An inspired team believes in your values and purpose and wants to help you succeed.

However, to get an inspired, engaged team, you need to inspire them.

What Inspires You?

As leaders, we are constantly learning and growing. Whether that be through courses, books, travel, or people we meet. These things inspire us and help us to stay engaged with what we are doing.

While these stories inspire us, they also have the power to inspire and engage others in our team. Share what you have read, learned, and heard with your team to help inspire them. Whether through a quick email, sharing in a company meeting, or even in your one-on-one sessions with your team.

The more engaged and inspired they are, the better the work they will provide.

Stories That Inspire

There are many stories that inspire, and not all have to be earth shattering. Sometimes simple learnings can inspire more than captivating stories.

Some things that inspire:

  1. Founding Story – Your founding story of how your company came into existence is something that can inspire and help your team to relate to the company. Your story can help them understand why you do what you do and the purpose of the company.
  2. Gratitude – Gratitude has been linked to being one of the most crucial indicators of employee happiness. Showing gratitude towards people and sharing praise can help to inspire and engage others.
  3. Learnings – Learnings from conferences, talks, and books can be a powerful engagement tool. Share these learning with your team in a way that helps them take action.
  4. Giving back – Giving back to your local community as a team is a great way to drive engagement. Doing good for others can help bring purpose into your team, as they feel part of what you do.

Inspiring your workforce does not have to be hard, make it part of your culture and you can keep your team engaged and inspired.
