Optimise IT and Business Operations with the Public Cloud

In a recent report Aberdeen looks at how organisations are able to utilise the Public Cloud to derive the benefits of a flexible IT infrastructure while delivering easier access and lowering costs.

Optimise IT and Business Operations with the Public Cloud

Public Cloud Provides True Business Benefit

For the past few years organisations have been leveraging the public cloud successfully to help augment IT infrastructure and take advantage of being able to pay for services through a subscription model, as opposed to a traditional enterprise licencing model.

Public clouds deliver on the benefits that IT is looking for by allowing IT departments to outsource the management of applications to experts who know them best. The public cloud also allows organisations to reduce capital budget, and push application support outside of the responsibility of the internal IT organisation. Beyond the benefit to IT, SaaS (Software as a Service) applications make it easier for organisations to support remote and home-based workers. In an age where employees demand more flexibility, and where logging in from home is more and more common with an always on workforce, supporting employees working from home is crucial to many business operations.

Public Cloud Delivers Hard and Soft Saving

The public cloud not only delivers on the promise of reduced up-front costs for IT organisations, it also provides them with the availability and minimal downtime that they need to conduct their business successfully.

The public cloud also delivers by saving organisations time that can be devoted to other critical operations. This allows IT departments to focus on strategic initiatives that will help drive their business forward.

Key Takeaways

Enable productivity for end-users and IT. Cloud applications allow IT to focus on being strategic instead of being stuck in the minutia; this is key to driving strategic initiatives forward for the IT department.

Allow applications to be managed better. Cloud applications are managed by people who know exactly how the application works and will often have more insight into what is causing a possible disturbance in service.
